It’s still a very demanding climb that involves steep rock scrambling, exposed ridges, fixed ropes, and some ice and snow sections.

Secondly, you need to hire a guide and book a hut. Unless you are an expert climber with extensive alpine experience, you should not attempt to climb the Matterhorn alone or without a guide. The mountain is notorious for its unpredictable weather, rock falls, avalanches, and crevasses. A guide will not only ensure your safety and provide you with equipment, but also help you with the logistics, such as booking a hut and arranging transportation. The hut you need to stay at is the Hornli Hut, which is located at 3260 meters on the base of the Hornli Ridge. The hut can accommodate up to 170 climbers per night, but it gets booked up very quickly, so you need to reserve your spot well in advance.

Thirdly, you need to train and acclimatize. Climbing the Matterhorn is not something you can do on a whim. You need to train your body and mind for months before your attempt. You need to build up your endurance, strength, balance, and flexibility by doing cardio exercises, weight training, yoga, and rock climbing. You also need to acclimatize your body to high altitude by spending some time in the mountains before your climb. You can do some warm-up climbs on other peaks in the area, such as Breithorn or Pollux, or simply hike around Zermatt and enjoy the stunning views.
